Activities
The Environmental Peacebuilding Association® (also known as EnPAx®) pursues its mission of fostering knowledge development and exchange, building capacity and awareness and strengthening relationships between scholars, practitioners, and decision makers through an integrated series of activities:
Interest Groups foster connections, networking, and knowledge exchange. Membership in the Interest Groups is open to all members of the Association. Current Interest Groups include:

Conferences, webinars, panels, and other events, including:
- Biennial International Conferences on Environmental Peacebuilding (including the First Conference (Irvine, CA; 2019), Second Conference (Geneva, Switzerland; 2022), Third Conference (The Hague, Netherlands; 2024), the Fourth Conference (Ottawa, Canada; 2026), and the Fifth Conference (Nairobi, Kenya; 2028)
- Thematic Symposia (focusing on Colombia (2021), the Water-Energy-Peace Nexus (2025), and Environmental Peacebuilding in Mountainous Regions (2027))
- Association webinars (open to all, but archived recordings available only to members)
In addition, EnPAx® collects, generates, and shares knowledge on environment, conflict, and peace for the broader public through:
- Environment & Security, the only peer-reviewed journal focusing on the intersection of environment, conflict and peace (free to EnPAx members, who log in and join from the link at the bottom of this page)
- Environmental Peacebuilding Update (biweekly) and the Newsletter on Gender, Natural Resource, Climate, and Peace (monthly)
- A Glossary of Terms on Environmental Peacebuilding (under development)
- Massive open online course (MOOC) on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace
- Environmental Peacebuilding Knowledge Platform (www.environmentalpeacebuilding.org)
