The overall aim of this research is enhancing the understanding of the relationship between the Colombian territories, post-agreement and deforestation, in order to determine to what extent, the Colombian Amazon forest coverage could change during the post-agreement period. In doing so, the following specific objectives were set: (1) Establish exploratory trends of the deforestation and armed conflict relationship, (2) Describe the main characteristics of the post-agreement environmental paradox, and (3) Explore the case of the Development Programmes with a Territorial-Based Approach in the Colombian Amazon region. From a critical perspective, problematizing the relationship between deforestation and the post-agreement scenario at the territorial level raise several questions. In that sense, this research is not framed as a concrete answer to a specific question. Nevertheless, the general question that guides this study is: To what extent the post-agreement scenario could lead to the destruction of the Colombian Amazon natural heritage? Along with this question, this research will trace the development of cleavages between the centre and the periphery, as well as the territorial aspect of peacebuilding. The study also takes into consideration a more prescriptive outcome related with the ongoing Development Programmes with a Territorial-Based Approach in the Colombian Amazon as a policy opportunity to stop deforestation in their jurisdictions.
