Over 400 million undernourished people globally reside in countries with violence, conflict, and fragility (FAO, 2017; George et al. 2020). While the relationship between conflict and food security has long been studied (e.g., Adong et al., 2021; Bruck et al., 2019; D'Souza & Jolliffe, 2013), the persistent effects of conflict on household welfare during the COVID-19 pandemic are yet to be documented.
The paper examines the persistent effect of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants' invasion of Iraq between 2014 and 2017 on household food consumption during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
