The process of peacebuilding is a crucial strategy for emerging economic, social and political approaches during and after conflicts. These strategies also address environmental concerns, enabling efforts to counter ecological harm while highlighting the roots of resource-related disputes. The literature review on advantages and disadvantages of environmental peacebuilding emphasizes the importance of a holistic perspective to understand the requirements for lasting peace. This study evaluates peer-reviewed scholarly works and seeks to identify, elucidate, and comprehend the potential trajectories that environmental peacebuilding initiatives may take in communities affected by armed conflicts. The article outlines advantages and disadvantages of a theory-driven analytical framework that describes the pathways arising from the integration of environmental issues into peacebuilding initiatives, which lead to environmental and social outcomes from these actions and potential opportunities for sustainable peace.
