Myanmar: Locals Demand Return of Land Taken for Coffee Project

Officials have so far ignored an appeal by farmers to return land appropriated for a coffee-planting project in Phaung Taw Sanpya village, Pyin Oo Lwin township, Mandalay Region, the villagers told a press conference on Wednesday. The villagers have requested the return of roughly 16 hectares of land several times but nothing has been done, and eight locals have been charged with trespassing, the villagers said.
