Sierra Leone: Underground Mining to Start in Kenema District

The paramount chief of Lower Bambara chiefdom Kenema district PC Alimamy Moiwai Farma V spoke as Chair during the public consultation and disclosure of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment on Tonguma Limited underground mining operations, held at Korjie hall in Panguma on Tuesday 18 December 2018. The Sierra Diamonds Newfield Resources Limited will begin mining activities soon. The women’s leader in the chiefdom, Nancy Gando, called on the company to provide proper safety measures for those workers. She commended Sierra Diamonds for their past interventions in the chiefdom as their corporate social  responsibility and urged them to continue doing more.
