Libya’s oil revenues for 2025 reached $21.9 billion, marking a 15% increase compared to the preceding year, according to data released by the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) on January 1.In a statement, the NOC specified that the $21.9 billion in oil proceeds include $3.268 billion derived from royalties and taxes on concession contracts, in addition to a deposit of 71.36 million euros ($83.91 million) made to the sovereign account in 2025.Libya recorded its highest average production rates of the last decade in 2025, with an average of 1.374 million barrels of crude oil produced per day, totalling 501 million barrels for the year. Libya holds confirmed reserves estimated at approximately 48.4 billion barrels of oil, positioning it as the largest reserves holder in Africa and the ninth globally.Oil and gas exports constitute Libya’s main source of income. However, the sector has experienced setbacks in recent years due to internal conflicts and political instability since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011.
