Afghanistan tops the list for civilian casualties by victim-activated landmines out of the 58 states recorded as having anti-personnel mines in their territory, according to the Geneva-based Landmine and Cluster Munitions Monitor (LCMM). LCMM's latest report, tallying global mine statistics for 2014, shows that a worldwide year-on-year trend of shrinking civilian casualties was reversed largely because of a rise in casualties in Afghanistan.
