Janet Edmond has more than 30 years’ experience in advancing people-centered conservation approaches, designing, managing and promoting multisectoral initiatives in key biodiversity areas, primarily in Africa and Asia. Edmond is a recognized technical expert and leader in international health, development and conservation, with strong focus on promoting Rights-based Approaches to conservation (RBA), conflict sensitivity, participation and inclusion, gender integration and women’s empowerment. Edmond led Conservation International’s initiative to become a conflict sensitive conservation organization from 2019-2024, in collaboration with PeaceNexus Foundation. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and its membership committee (2022-2024, 2025 to present).
