The on-going armed conflicts have demonstrated that the damage to the environment has a devastating impact on ecosystems and natural resources. It will have a serious impact long beyond the period of conflict and will extend beyond the limits of national territories and the present generation.

The UN General Assembly in 2001 declared 6 November, as the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict. Observing the day, the Centre for Advanced Studies in International Humanitarian Law and Military Law at the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) is pleased to announce a ONE DAY SEMINAR on "Protection of Environment During War and Armed Conflict" scheduled to be held on November 6, 2025 at ISIL.

The seminar aims to raise awareness and encourage global efforts to protect the environment in times of conflict and also analyse how the existing international legal framework could be updated to protect the environment in times of armed conflict.
